PLAN NOW TO GET INVOLVED IN
LIFEGROUP MINISTRY

What is a LifeGroup? LifeGroups at Peckville Assembly of God are small groups scattered through out the area that meet weekly to “do life together.” Their purpose is to help each Christian Believer grow in Christ likeness through developing the five purposes of a healthy growing child of God: community, discipleship, ministry, mission, and worship. This is where every person at Peckville Assembly and others can belong, connect, and grow in a safe, encouraging environment.

What is the scriptural basis for this ministry?
Matthew 28:18-20: “Then Jesus came to them and said,
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you always to the very end of the age.”
Colossians 2:7 Amp.: “Have the roots of your being firmly and deeply planted in Him—fixed and founded in Him—being increasingly more confirmed and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and abounding and overflowing in it with thanksgiving.”
Proverbs 27:17: “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”

What curriculum is being used? From April 2008 through May 2009, LifeGroups will be doing a series of studies entitled, “Doing Life Together.” There are 6, six-week sessions that will be conducted throughout the year beginning the week of April 20. This series is a follow-up to the 40 Days of Purpose campaign we did a few years ago, as well as the C.L.A.S.S. 101, 201, 301, 401, Sunday School classes. Each week focuses on a different life purpose, giving the LifeGroup members more time to assimilate the C.L.A.S.S. material into their lives.

How does someone get involved in a LifeGroup?
Complete the sign up sheet in the church bulletin, call the church office at 489-4961, or contact the LifeGroup Directors, Pat & Charlotte Mallery at 689-7378 who will put you in touch with a host. If you would like to be a Host or in a leadership capacity, contact the LifeGroup Directors.

Is there a cost involved? Yes, each LifeGroup member is responsible for paying for their own study guide for each session. The cost is approximately $10.00 per guide which will be ordered through your Host.

What about child care needs? Child care needs are determined by each individual LifeGroup. There are various solutions: hire your own babysitter at your home, your LifeGroup may have a second home where children can be dropped off and picked up after the meeting, or your LifeGroup may have a room at the Host’s home where the children will be cared for.

Do I have to attend a LifeGroup Meeting in my area?
No. Not necessarily. You may attend any LifeGroup you choose, however we ask that you stick with one LifeGroup for the entire 6-week session.

Can I bring an unsaved friend to my LifeGroup?
Yes. One of the purposes of the LifeGroup is to provide a place where “seekers” can find answers.

I’d like to host a LifeGroup but should I wait until I have more experience? If you have a willing heart, a DVD player, and a few open seats in your living room you can be a host. Before your group starts, you will receive host training.

When will my LifeGroup meet? These six week groups start the week of April 20, 2008. As the host, you choose the time and day of the week your group meets. We only ask that; you do not meet on Wednesday evenings or Sundays, so as not to conflict with church services.

What happens to my LifeGroup after our six weeks together? Your members commit only for six weeks, but as you reach the end of that time, we hope that you will want to stay together. You may or may not choose to continue as host. If you decide not to, we ask that you help identify a leader among the group who want to stay in the group. Training and support will be provided for these new leaders.
